Doorbell (battery) Disconnects after Activity

denzoid

Ever since getting this unit it frequently disconnects from my wifi randomly BUT ALSO it now frequently disconnects after it has detected motion and/or a visitor pushes the button. Many times when I arrive home I will get alerted that a person has been detected but then a few minutes later I get alerted the camera is now offline. I am not really expecting a solution to this as I've never found or been offered any solution to the initial wifi disconnect issue. I guess I just want to add to this forum another story from another dissatisfied Google Nest customer.

Hello denzoid,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, how far is it from your Wi-Fi router? Were there any Wi-Fi outages in your area? Try restarting it by pressing the button inside the pinhole at the back of the doorbell for 5 seconds. You may use an unfolded paperclip to press it. Also, try restarting your Wi-Fi router to refresh it's connection to the internet and let us know how it goes.

The wifi router is approximately 20 feet from the doorbell and I have tried restarting it and restarting the router multiple times. I have also "factory reset" the doorbell once. Nothing improves the performance. There have been interruptions of my internet service but they do not coincide with when the doorbell drops out/off.

Hi denzoid,

I appreciate the update. To further isolate this issue, try relocating your Nest Doorbell and reset it again to the factory default and monitor its behaviour.

To reset:

Give these steps a try:

  1. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of your Nest Doorbell.
Tip: The reset pin on your Nest Doorbell (battery) is located below the USB port on the back of the doorbell.
  2. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paperclip or a thumbtack):
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your Nest Doorbell will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your Nest Doorbell will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.
  5. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings Nest settings icon Remove device Confirm.

Best,

Emerson

OK I did everything you suggested and I am still experiencing the same behavior. FYI I have 2 other security cameras (Reolink) a little further away but in the same general area as this Nest doorbell and neither of them experience any dropped connections at all on the same wifi network.
