After looking closer at my doorbell recently, it's peeling and cracking off. At first I thought it was the film covering, but it's shedding clear flecks of coating. It looks absolutely horrendous, and after reading here, what's to stop it from happening on another one?

I live in PA, temps aren't crazy extreme here at all - no reason for it to be doing this?

Any recommendations if rain or any other conditions will now effect it? I called and they said I am just shy of my warranty and I'd have to buy a new one... Really??
