Excessive Bandwidth Usage on Nest Cam Outdoor

I've been having issues this past month with my Nest Outdoor Cam; there are certain days where it'll have massive amounts of upload (~200-300gb/day), and others where it'll be completely normal (~12gb/day). There's no rhyme or reason as to why, there's no excessive motion on those days, and I can't comprehend why it would ever upload hundreds of gigabytes of data in a single day. I've reached out to support and got no help, they basically said to "turn the quality down, because on High it can use 300gb per month". Like I said, this started this month, and I can't seem to figure out why. I'll attach some photos of my bandwith usage on the one camera, make sure to note the scale on the Y axis, but for now, I'm just completely turning off video recording on this camera. I'd love any help anyone may have!

Side note: I have 3 other nest cameras around my house, none of them have data spikes like this one does!

I’ve had something similar happen to 2 outdoor cameras and a doorbell but mainly high download bandwidth, sometimes like 5gb in one hour despite video history turned off, or even when plugged in for charging. Whereas the indoor wired camera doesn’t do the same. I think this is connected to my batteries depleting really quickly over just 2-3 days.

What application is this?
I'd like to check my outdoor cameras

I have the Nest Wifi Pro mesh system, so it's just the Google home app that controls my routers and monitors the devises on them.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. When you pick video quality and bandwidth settings, you set the maximum video quality for your Nest Camera. It will automatically adjust video resolution and compression according to how much bandwidth is available. The video quality settings lets you choose how much of your internet connection gets used by your Google Nest camera or doorbell to stream live video. The higher the quality setting is, the more bandwidth is used.

No matter which option you pick, both your camera and the app will automatically adjust its resolution to work with the available bandwidth.

Give these steps a try:

Home app

  1. Open the Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings .
  4. Choose Video.
  5. Under “Video quality,” choose Max or High.
    • High settings use less bandwidth.
    • Max settings uses more bandwidth.

Nest app

  1. Open the Nest app Nest app
  2. On the home screen, select your camera.
  3. Tap Settings Nest settings icon .
  4. Tap Quality and bandwidth Nest cam video quality icon.
  5. Slide the toggle to change the video quality for your camera.
  • The “Low” option uses the smallest amount of bandwidth.
  • The “High” option uses more bandwidth.

Best,

Emerson

Google keep deleting my replies by the way this is my third attempt at posting a reply. I wrote 2-3 indepth replies that have been deleted... Basically I've been through this with Google over the last 3 months and they just flexed their corporate muscles and said there's nothing i can do about the obscene data usage
