Google Nest doorbell and camera

jzaccardo

I currently have a Blink (product) video doorbell and mini-camera and I am looking to change to a different

company product.  The Blink system is too finicky and after a year I am frustrated and need to move to something else.

I am currently reviewing the Google Nest products and I have a few questions, and I can't get through to the Google folks for answers.

My current Blink products/setup includes:

  1. Video doorbell (hardwired)
    1. It rings at the doorbell.
    2. It rings in my indoor house chime.
    3. I can watch it live 24/7.
    4. It records video clips (motion sensor).
  2. I have a Sync Module with USB attached.
    1. This stores the video clips (which I usually delete after watching).
    2. This allows me to not have to have a monthly subscription for service/space.
  3. A Mini-camera.
    1. I use it indoors.
    2. Plugs into any electrical outlet.
    3. It is small and easily movable to any location in my house.
    4. I can watch it live 24/7.

I also have Verizon Home internet box for my home Wi-Fi.

Can I buy Nest products that will provide the same setup as I have currently ?

If yes, please provide the names of the products.

Thanks.

I'm just another Google Nest customer.

A Google Nest 2nd Gen Doorbell (wired) can provide the functions you listed under #1 (Video doorbell [hardwired]). (https://store.google.com/us/product/nest_doorbell?hl=en-US). We have the older Google Nest Hello Doorbells.

A Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max can provide the functions you listed under #3 (A Mini-camera). (https://store.google.com/us/product/nest_hub_2nd_gen?hl=en-US; https://store.google.com/product/google_nest_hub_max?hl=en-US). We have both of these.

However, Google Nest does not provide any ability to store video history locally. A "Nest Aware" or "Nest Aware Plus" subscription--for a monthly or annual fee--will store your video history on the cloud on Google Nest's servers. However, with the newer cameras and doorbells, you can only download events that Google Nest has detected.  Without a subscription, you have access only to event video history for the most recent 3 hours. (https://store.google.com/us/product/nest_aware?hl=en-US). We have a "Nest Aware Plus" subscription.

Consider about the after sales services. Not sure about other brands but if you just have a short look on the warranty request on this group, you'll see that Google actually surprised many people with not following up the warranty requests. They are just ignoring those requests.

Hello everyone,

I apologize to those who had issues with their warranty requests. I genuinely understand the inconvenience you have faced.

@BasakD, do you have a pending warranty request? If yes, I’d like to dig deeper into this. Do you have the case ID from the warranty claim, so I can check what happened?

Regards,

Lance
