How to receive notifications on google nest camera via iphone?

rsegal

We have set up a google nest camera at our front door and connected to Google Home App on our iPhones.

My husband can get all the alerts and notifications. However, my phone doesn't. I've checked all my settings against his, and they're all checked off the same. But for some reason my phone does not alert me when someones at the door.

Please can you help or advise.

Thanks

@rsegal

We had this problem awhile ago with not getting notifications on one of our iPhones, even though all the alert and notification settings were the same on both phones. I finally resolved it by deleting and re-installing the Google Home app on my phone.  (But we have Nest Hellos and not the newer battery doorbell.)

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, as I can imagine it has been an inconvenience. I would love to look into this further for you. Have you tried to restart your phone and make sure that your app is updated? Also, do you both have different phones? Please let me know.

Best regards,
Brad

Phone has been restarted.

App has been removed and reinstalled

app is on 3 phones - works fine on 2 out of three.

the phone it does not work on is the exact same make/model as one of the two that it does work on.

Hey folks,

We appreciate you for trying those steps. Let’s get this sorted — a few questions: is there a pending iOS update? Is there enough memory on your phone storage? Also, is the Do Not Disturb setting off and the Background app refresh on in your iPhone settings?

You can also give these steps a try:

  1. Restart your Nest camera.
    • Plug the camera into a power source.
    • Locate the reset button at the back of the camera.
    • Press and hold for 5 seconds.
    • Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.
  2. Restart your modem or router, unplug it from the power outlet for 1 to 2 minutes. Then, plug it back in.
  3. For iOS devices, go to Settings > Notifications > Nest or Google Home and follow the configuration below.
    • Allow notifications is enabled.
    • You may disable any or all notification options.
  4. Restart your phone. Turn it off for 60 seconds. Then, turn it back on.

Let me know how it goes.

I appreciate the help here, MplsCustomer and Brad.

Thanks,

JT
