I need help reconnecting my cameras

Zilander
Community Member

My Google Home settings were accidentally removed and I lost the connection to my Cameras.

I have a Nest doorbell (Battery) and Nest Cam (battery). The problem is I don't know the code to the Nest Cam (battery) and its mounted so  high for me to reach and scan the code.

Is there a way I could reconnect my camera without having to hire a technician to climb up and get the camera?

The WiFi network is still the same.

I will appreciate any help I could get

I'm not sure what you mean by "My Google Home settings were accidentally removed". Did you delete your Google Nest "home/structure"?

To reinstall a Google Nest camera or doorbell, you need either the QR code or the 6-character alphanumeric Setup Code. Unfortunately, Google Nest does not provide an alternative for this.

For the battery camera, the QR code is printed on a sticker on the front of the camera that Google Nest's instructions suggested saving; for the battery doorbell, the QR code is printed on the back of the doorbell. The 6-character Setup Code is printed on the back of each device.

@MplsCustomer I was able to get someone to climb the ladder and get the code from the outdoor camera since I hadn't saved the code after 1st removing the sticker 2yrs ago.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I was able to obtain the codes from both Google Cameras and reinstall my cameras to work.

The only issue I'm facing now is slow responses from events happening. I would receive a notification when someone is at the door immediately and my driveway camera would pick up vehicles or motion instantly in real time. But since I reconnecting the doorbell and outdoor cameras, they a slow to send a notification, takes about a minute or more.

My WiFi is working fast as usual so that's not the issue.

Hey there,

I'm glad to know that you were able to reconnect your Nest camera to the Google Home app.Regarding the notifications on your phone, have you tried restarting your phone or reinstalling the Google Home app to resolve the issue?

I look forward to your response.

Cheers,
Edmond
