Nest Aware event based history

Hi, I’m thinking of getting Nest cam but I can’t figure out if I need nest aware or nest aware plus subscription. I live in apt so the camera is going to be in living room. There is not going to be much of new people coming in so it’s just my family 99% of the time. My family spends most of the time in living room. So my question is, does the event based recording capture all the footage while they are in the living room or it only capture for a moment before it detects they are familiar face? Because in my case, there is hardly going to be any new event besides my own family and if event based recording doesn’t capture that then it pretty much doesn’t capture anything. So in that case I’ll have to get nest aware plus which will give me at least 10 days of 24/7 recording.

Hello Lsachs,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. You're correct. Having a Nest Aware Plus would cover that because it has a 24/7 10 days of continuous video recording. Also, Google Nest attempts to send you the right number of alerts at the right times, the Nest Camera will trigger a short cooldown period each time a notification is sent. While the duration of the cooldown period varies by alert type (e.g. person, sound, motion, etc.) the behavior remains the same. Once an event begins, an alert is sent and the cooldown period begins. Until the cooldown period expires without any new activity of that type, no new alerts of that type are sent.

If notifications aren't sent because of a concurrent, higher priority alert,  you won't be notified until the cooldown for that event expires, and a higher priority event is no longer detected.

Regards,

Emerson

Thanks, I really wanted 24/7 recording. But nest aware plus is alittle expensive for me. I guess I’ll have to look into other local storage cameras
