Nest Doorbell Battery Not Charging

NickB73

I just bought the Nest Battery doorbell (for some reason the Nest Wired Gen 2 isn’t available in the uk). I just cannot get it charge, The Nest is replacing a Ring Pro which was hardwired to a 24vDC feed, which is now wired into the Nest Battery, I have set up motions zones etc, but in one day I’ve lost 13% on the battery, I can see the symbol for charging, but it clearly isn’t.

I’ve checked the voltage on the terminals for the doorbell and it’s exactly where it should be. I did reach out to Nest Support via online chat, and was told it means I have to bring it in to charge. No acknowledgement that I have it wired in, and it should be charging.

At a los on this one..

Hi NickB73,

Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing with your Nest Doorbell (battery). It's frustrating when a device doesn't charge as expected, especially when it's connected to a power source. Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Double-check the wiring connections between your 24VDC power source and the Nest Doorbell (battery). Ensure that the wires are securely connected and that the voltage is within the specified range.
  2. Make sure that the 24VDC power source is compatible with the Nest Battery doorbell. Check Nest Doorbell compatibility to confirm that the voltage and power requirements are met.
  3. If the wiring and power source are correct, check for any power interruptions or fluctuations that could affect the charging process. Ensure that the power source is stable and consistently providing power to the doorbell.
  4. Try performing a reset on the Nest Doorbell (battery). This can often resolve any software or connectivity issues. Refer to the manufacturer's documentation or contact Nest/Google Support for instructions on how to reset the doorbell.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe
