Nest Doorbell offline & power issues

I have had my nest doorbell for about five years within the last two years my doorbell would randomly turn off and go off-line. I had a tech come and replace the transformer from 12 V to 16 V. It worked fine for about two years, and then randomly the doorbell would go off-line And power off. I replaced the transformer to a 24 V I replaced the Nest doorbell itself, and I tested the wires it would still go off-line and turn off. I saw a YouTube video on how to troubleshoot it and the first thing I saw was the guy wired the nest doorbell directly to the original doorbell wires so I did just that and I removed the Google nest provided white wire, connectors and connected the nest doorbell directly to my original doorbell wires, my doorbell has not powered off or gone off-line for about three months already. Problem solved.

Hi Ziggy6654,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. In case you have the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen), it requires a higher power requirement than most doorbells. You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your doorbell. If you've already installed your doorbell and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power. We appreciate you sharing what you've done to make it work and we're glad to know that it's resolved now. Just a reminder, the chime connector that came with it should be installed for proper installation and to avoid possible issues in the future.
