I have 2 Nest Outdoor security cameras (wired), both connected via wifi.
This happens so consistently it's got to be a known issue... is there a workaround for this? I can't find anything in the forums or help pages, so my apologies if it's been addressed somewhere (I tried, I swear).
Every time my internet goes out, they will NOT reconnect on their own. I have to physically unplug them - usually multiple times - to force them to reset. Sometimes I need to re-install them as if they were new devices (scan the QR code on them and go through the entire wifi login process all over again). It's STUPID frustrating.
These are SECURITY cameras. Their entire job is to work when I am NOT PRESENT. Being unable to reconnect them to the internet without a physical reset severely limits their functionality.
Normally I can do this the next morning when I come into my shop, but 2 weeks ago I was away on vacation and there was an internet service issue (the entire area went down - not power, just Spectrum's crappy system). I was able to remote reset the modem and router, but the cameras remained the ONLY devices that wouldn't reconnect. So I had no cameras for 2 weeks - the EXACT time I would most like to have them functional.
Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.
Do you still need help with this issue?
What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?
Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?
If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
