Old email I can't access and my nest cameras now do not work

JP213

I have an old Bellsouth.net email account I can no longer access. Apparently, any codes being sent are going to that email and I now have multiple indoor NEST camera's that do not work. The light is on all of them but when I go to my NEST app and go to "spaces", it is off and I have no way of turning it back on. I've tried to factory reset with a paperclip but that is not working at all. When I try and "add a camera", the app looks for the camera but a message comes back saying that camera is connected to another account...my old Bellouth.net account. Could this process be just a bit more complicated?!? Trying to speak to someone...apparently not allowed. Tried fixing it with my laptop...a complete maze. Lost and very confused (and frustrated).

Hello @JP213,

Thanks for reaching out. You only need to change your email address on your Nest app. However, if you have enabled 2-step verification, you'll need to verify your account to perform the change. If you need further assistance, you can contact support.

If you created another account with a new email address, it will not work as it is currently set up in your previous account

Hope that helps! 🙂

My account has my new email address but the account itself that has all my camera's is still tied to my old email address I can no longer access. Trying to get through to Google is impossible. Not sure what to do next.

Hello @JP213,

If all you do is just change your email in your Nest account, you should still have access to all your devices. Devices are tied to your Nest account, not email address. Did you by chance create a new account instead of changing your account email?

I did not create a new account. From what I can tell, the QR code on the back of these cameras is tied your email....unless I am doing something wrong

Hello @JP213,

This is not true. It is tied to your Nest account, not email address. Here's the set up guide for new Nest cameras. You can try factory resetting your cameras to connect to your new account.

Hope that helps! 🙂

Trued to do the factory reset with the paperclip...did not work. Looks like I need to figure out how to get to my NEST account...assume it is through the app

No...cameras are still inop...Speaking with a Google actual human is impossible...frustrated and extremely dissatisfied with what should be a very easy process and it is not. Not sure what to do at this juncture.

Hello everyone,

@JP213, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We're sorry to hear that you're having troubles contacting our support team. If you want to link it with your other email address, you need to remove them first using your https://goo.gle/3ZNZc33 email address then reset them to the factory default and add it to the app with your other email. In case you want to speak with our support team, you may hit this link. Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, listairee.

Regards,

Emerson

Hey JP213,

I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. How's it going with your Nest Camera? Were you able to perform the steps I’m suggesting? We'd be glad to hear from you.

Thanks,
