I cannot seem to stop my Chromecast from displaying curated artwortks. I want to turn this off because it over-illuminates the room fiercly when I'm trying to view some videos late at night.
I keep selecting Google Photos in which I have a Favorites album from Google Photos, in which I have four black screenshots selected. The Google Home app loads while it sends the settings to the Chromecast. But the Chromecast ignores the setting and keeps showing curated artworks.
I can imagine that the screenshots don't live up to the Chromecast's quality bar, but why silently fall back to an option I did not choose?

Four photos may not be enough. Sorry, I know there is a minimum, but I don't know what it is.
Try setting it to a lot more photos and see if it works.

Thanks. Adding 10 landscape black blanks and favoriting them all did the trick.
Chromecast should be clearer about this.
