This issue just started for me. I saw an old thread talking about this. The trouble shooting does not fix the issue. Disconnected the power supply. Manual factory reset doesn’t work.  It’s just frozen. Remote doesn’t work. I reset my Wi-Fi. I changed HDMI ports, still Not working.  I have two of those on n my house and the other is fine. I’ve plugged into different TVs and everything nothing works same issue.  Help!!! Even the reset button doesn’t work on the Chromecast

Hi folks,

I hope you all are doing well. Our team is aware of this behavior and is still looking into it. As we wait for an update, try the steps below and observe if it will make a difference. If the steps didn't work, please let us know.

  1. Reboot your Wi-Fi router and plug in the Chromecast with Google TV on a different HDMI port of your TV.
  2. Plugging it on a different TV screen if one is available, then reset it again.
  3. Unplugging it for 24 hours might also help.

Juni

So using a 20w power brick helped reset your Chromecast? Can you please explain

so here’s the deal.  I hooked up the CC and it worked fine to display the main menu. But said no internet connection. I entered WiFi password and as soon as it connected the reboot loop started. I searched for hours and tried everything but nothing worked. I remembered someone commenting that this is usually a power supply issue. I noticed I had a cheap black cube that I was using to plug the CC into the wall. I had a new 20w power brick from my iPhone. I used that and the CC went into setup mode. Probably because I had done the hard reset to factory settings earlier. So what it appeared was the CC had enough power to fire up and display the menu but as soon as I connected to wireless there was not enough power supplied to the CC. Weird???

This worked for me!  i always  had it plugged into an outlet with USB slots. Used a 20W block. Hope everyone else has same success.

I had this issue.  Nothing fixed it. Factory reset nothing. Then I tried to swap out the power block I was using to plug into the wall. It was an old cheap black cube that works with a phone but chromecast needs more power. So try a newer stronger charging block with 20watts of power.

I'm also having the same issue. It just froze tonight while I was watching tv. I unplugged everything and replugged it in, but it's still stuck on the Google logo startup screen. It will not even factory reset.

I'm having the same issue. Changing the power block did not work for me.

Well one other fix I heard aboiut was to hold down the button on CC and keep holding it and then unplug the CC while still holding the button and then plug it in again and hold until light turns white.  This is supposed to bring up a menu where you can select an option to wiple all data on the CC.  Then you will have to do the setup again.  Might take a few tries to get it to work

I tried that several times with no luck, but I'll try again. That's for the tip

Did you open a ticket with Google.  If CC is bricked they might replace it.

Yeah I did, just waiting for them to reply. I bought it about 2 years ago so I feel they won't replace it, but here's to hoping, lol

Did you got success!!!

None of the steps you suggested have worked obviously to is a big issue now. I await the Google fix.

Your team must be out to lunch!  I used my lunch time to purchase an amazon Fire Stick❣️❣️🇨🇦🙏

Try 5v 3a charger. Most chargers are 5v 2.4 a

Hi,

My Chromecast stopped working after anupdate

It boots up shows the Google logo and reboots. The light on the unit stays white for a couple seconds and switches to amber.  This cycle continues to happen and the factory reset button doesnt work at all.

I did see multiple thread which are being locked in regards to this issue and no resolution has been posted till now.

Hi Google Team!

Any solution for the Chromecast stuck on G logo issue??? Seems like numerous forums exist here with next to no useful advice. I have attempted all troubleshooting as advised in existing forums. Help! You are too big of a company to let such a failure affect your customers. Very disappointed that it seems like there is no issue and no support. "Warranty" shouldn't apply in situations like this. Do you program your devices to fail? What gives?! Your move Google.

Please check video and description

Your Google support team seems to be incapable and incompetent to reply to this issue!!  Google produced the update that bricked everyone’s device.  You can bet your bottom dollar most of us will never purchase Google devices ever again!!

Hi there,

We just want to check if you have seen our response posted above. Let us know if you have additional questions, otherwise we'll be locking the thread.

DO NOT LOCK THIS THREAD. There has been no resolution.

DO NOT LOCK THIS THREAD.

Google needs to give us an answer.

Why would you lock an unresolved issue?  I'll make you a deal. I will ship my unit to you so you can see the issue personally. I will do this at my expense. You can email me an address. IF you can get it to function, I'll pay the return shipping. If you cannot make it work, then forward it to someone who can figure it out and provide us either with a solution or a reduced-cost replacement. It appears none of the mods or admins have a device with this problem so they assume we're making it up or not trying the "solution" steps. I assure all of you, we've done everything.

There HAS to be a developer program - probably Linux - that can access the device via the USB-C port to clear the jam, unless the firmware update rendered the device permanently inoperable.  In any event, I'm offering my unit for testing. I do not expect to get it back.

In other news, still haven't heard anything after filling out the form other than the above "we got it" message.

Doc

DO NOT LOCK THIS THREAD.

Sir they are not telling solution

I ve asked them to guide me how to access recovery mode of chromecast so we  can factory reset from there, but they are not telling just told me that it's not in our recommendation step.

Hi brother

How are you.

Let's post this issue on

"Xda developers" website

I hope they can solve this problem

Jumping back in to say that this is 100% a hardware/firmware failure causing the unit to be bricked.  Its not related to wifi, cables, TV inputs, settings, etc...  Mine doesnt even turn on any lights, or display a logo. Just 100% dead. TV acts like there is nothing plugged in.  I just tried again after a month and still dead. Tried different power cords/power units too.  If anyone is within their 1 year warranty still, your best bet is to go down that path for replacement, which it seems like they will do.  At this point, I just want acknowledgement that an update bricked it.  I can tell it came right around the beginning of the year. I have moved on to a Roku Ultra now and havent had any problems.

I had same issue last month and I fixed it testing multiple power profile adapters.

Chromecast needs 5v as standard voltage, but started requesting more power with same voltage. So we need 3 amps of power to boot it up.  So check for 5V 3A in new power adapter. I made a video to help, of you same issue as in video it should help

Same problem here. Worked only for few hours, then lost connection with WIFI, could not see any WIFI router. After restart stuck on the logo. None of mentioned solutions worked for me

I tried an 5V 8A power supply. That should be plenty. Plugging in the Chromecast while holding down the button got to the G logo. After a few seconds, it rebooted on its own, but still stuck at the G logo. It did this twice, now nothing happens no matter how long I hold the button down or let it just sit there.

It'd be nice if filling out that form actually garnered a response.

I'm experiencing the same issue, Chromecast with Google TV 4k stuck on G.  Worked fine in the morning, but noticed wifi not connected. Long-pressed home button, accessed wifi menu, none showing, turned wifi off then on, networks appeared, selected mine, connected, click home to get back to my app, screen went to G and has been there ever since. Unplugging it didn't work, new power brick didn't work, swap HDMI didn't work.  Filled out the form today.  My other two Google CCTV4k work fine.
