Chrome won’t connect to my Wi-Fi

Gidu

My chrome cast is probably very old. It worked fine with the previous Wi-Fi, but we’ve moved house 3 years ago. I’ve not used it since then, but now I want to use it again, it still retains in its memory the old Wi-Fi router & the old name. The screen is up on the tv, but says, “…can’t find the….Wi-Fi network …”, referring to the old network.

On my present list of networks with my present router, it shows up as a separate network but isn’t connecting to my router. It says, “ Chromecast….name I gave it)…no internet connection “

Not too sure which generation it is. It has on the screen, “ Reconnect me” as a heading, but I can’t do that!

Help!!!

Hi Gidu,

Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out. Do a factory reset on your Chromecast device. Doing this will set it back to its default settings, so you can set it up as a new device on your present WiFi network.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Alex
