Hi deekae1,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Are you experiencing this problem with other apps like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, etc.? I’m not quite familiar with the actual message itself, as it doesn’t seem to be an error message directly from the device. This could be isolated to the app itself. I suggest you troubleshoot the app by clearing the cache and data, or you can delete and reinstall it. If it persists, I suggest you reach out to Binge’s support team or community forum. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

I'm having problems with all the streaming services. I've checked my TV and made sure all the settings are correct for 4K output. My Chromecast is also plugged into a 4K HDMI port (MHL). One issue I noticed is that the CC Display Setting for the Dynamic Range Format is set to SDR and other formats are shown as 'not supported' (Dolby Vision & HDR). UHD isn't even listed as an option.

I am experiencing the same issue on a Hisense 65k321uw.

Manual of TV says MHL port is for special use and might experience issues, Only HDMI3/4 support 4K SDR 60Hz. Everything works and even 4K works on Netflix / Disney but on Binge and Kayo same error.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. If you haven't done so, please double check if you have all of these requirements to stream in 4K UHD:

  • An HDTV that is 4K compatible
  • An HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 and 60 frames per second in your TV
  • A stable high speed-internet connection (20 Mbps is the amount that I recommend)

If possible, you can try another high speed HDMI cable. Also, I'd recommend that the length of this cable doesn't exceed 6 feet (1.8m). If these steps don't work, as recommended above, i will kindly suggest to contact your specific content provider (Binge, Kayo sports, etc.).

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Angel

Thanks Angel!

I contacted the manufacturer and the issue was with the TV. Whilst the ports support HDMI 2.0 and 4K@60hz, due to its age they do not have HDCP support and this was the issue. I have added a device which adds HDCP compatibility to the TV so we’re able to stream Binge, Kayo and other 4K streams without issue.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for your help here, @aperezdeleon.

We appreciate your update here, @RoryLeggett.

If all other apps are working fine, especially the 4K functions, then the Chromecast’s hardware and software intended for 4K are working, and the affected app may have an issue using this feature but not the actual device itself. Troubleshoot the affected app. For isolation, you can also move your Chromecast to another TV. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thanks,

Kimy

I have exactly the same same problem with my Chromecast with Google tv and Binge. Now that Kayo Sports streams some sports in 4k that isn't working either. All other streaming services are fine in 4k (Netflix, Prime and Disney+).
