Chromecast Remote not working after firmware update

So I believe my Chromecast remote has just done a firmware update as I had a solid white light on the remote for a short while. Since then the remote does not connect at all. 

 

I have tried the following things to fix it and nothing has worked:

1. I have changed the remotes batteries for 3 different brands all of which I know are working. 

2. I have tried disconnecting the device and forgetting it to reconnect. However when holding the back and home buttons together but I don't get a pulsing light (I've held it for up to 20 seconds and nothing) 

3. I have also tried restarting the Chromecast itself and then repeating steps 1 and 2 but still nothing at all. 

 

Any help or ideas for this?

You've done a great job on the troubleshooting, you're almost there!

 

My recommendation would be to try another factory reset on your Chromecast device following this article about Troubleshooting the Chromecast voice remote. The important part is to make sure you hold the Home button while reinserting the batteries.

 

What specific Chromecast device are you using? As a last troubleshooting step, you could perform a factory reset on the Chromecast to get a fresh start on the setup.

I managed to do a factory reset on the remote and that has fixed the issue. Thank you so much for the help on resolving this
