Chromecast falls off from my smartphone (music starts on smartphone).

Hi there.

So the issue is - when I connect my phone to a soundbar or to a TV via chromecast to paly some YouTubeMusic after some 10-15 minutes of playback seems like connection falls of and my phone starts to play music (together with that my soundbar or TV keep playing too).

And when I turn on phone again I see no connection to my TV ot to soundbar.

So I guess there is some sort of time out for connection between chromecast device and my smartphone. Could you help finding those settings where I can force connection remain active (doesnt matter on powersaving for smartphone).

Thanks in adavance.
Cheers .

Hi Kost9lbrik,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. What Chromecast device do you have? Is it connected to the HDMI port of your soundbar or your TV? And when it drops its connection, you mention that the Chromecast device continuously plays the content while your phone continues to play the same content (where it left off) on your smartphone? Kindly help us more with further details. And is this isolated to the YouTube Music app only? Are you experiencing this on other apps like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, etc.?

Let us know. We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hello Kimy,

Thanks for your reply.

I do not use phisical Chromecast device. I just use built in software of Chromecast to cast my music to a sound bar( Naim Muso 2), meaning I just set them up on the same wifi network and then I see chromecast capable devices in the network.
And when while playback it feels like there is some sort of time out when music keeps playing on the soundbar, but not possible to control anything from the phone, and left untouched (I mean phone), then phone starts playback of music from point where the connection fell off.
I do not if this is going to persist with other apps. I use only youtube music with soundbar, no need to watch any videos on it (it is not connection to a TV, just works stand alone).
I hope it was helpful.
I"m about to get a new phone, let's see how it's gonna work with newer Android version.

Hello Kost9lbrik,

Thanks for the reply. You’re talking about “cast or casting” (some mistake it for Chromecast), which is a technology made to broadcast contents from a handheld device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) using a cast-enabled app (Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Prime Video, etc.). This is common on smart devices (smart TVs, smart soundbars, smart speakers, etc.), but not for non-smart devices, which is why casting devices were invented such as Chromecast, Miracast, Moonbox, etc. I hope this clarifies the confusion.

Now that we have determined that you don’t have a Chromecast device and are using a smart soundbar, it’s best to reach out to the manufacturer of your soundbar.

Let us know if you have questions about Chromecast devices.

Regards,

Kimy

Hello Kimy,

Thank you for the response. I will check it out with manufacturer.

Sorry for bringing confusing.

However, this behaviour was observed not only with my sound bar, but also with our TVs. They have smart-TV built-in so no devicec like Chromecast were necessary.

Anyway, I have a new phone, now it will be easier to under where the issue lies and I will update once I have some tests.
Thanks again.

Best Regards.

Hi Kost9lbrik,

We’re glad to know that the confusion has been cleared. If both smart devices are acting this way, this most likely is an issue with the app or the casting source (smartphone, tablet, etc.) itself. At least now, you have a basis for where to start.

Let us know if you want to learn more about Chromecast devices.

Best,

Kimy
