Chromecast storage lost

Hardbop2k

I have an external drive connected which allowed me 2.2GB of free "internal shared storage". Approximately every week or so the 'photos & videos' in internal storage is filled, which causes issues. You are able to clear 'cached data' but unable to highlight the other fields.Have disabled Ambient Mode,Calendar Storage,Contacts Storage, Google Calendar Sync in Apps.

Hey there Hardbop2k,

I apologize for the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that storage issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine this issue is pretty frustrating. First, I would check for any firmware updates to the Chromecast. Then, go ahead and disconnect the storage device and reconnect it. Finally, if you can, connect it to a computer and make sure the storage is formatted correctly, and manually delete the files you want gone from there. Note, if you do format the drive, the drive will clear ALL data.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

The drive was formatted when first connected to the Chromecast. There is an app or setting that periodically fills the 'Photos & Videos' in the internal storage. Unfortunately there is no setting/switch to allow clearing of this field. Within the internal storage you are able to clear the 'Cached Data' field easily.

Hey there Hardbop2k,

Once again, I apologize for the late response. Do you know if there is an application that you've side-loaded that is creating files and taking up storage space in the internal storage rather than the external storage? If you've already navigated to your profile icon and then  select Settings and then System  and then Storage and then Internal shared storage and then Cached data then selected OK to clear your cached app data, that should clear it for all internal applications. Side-loading apps isn't technically supported by Google, so if there is some cached app data on the external storage you need to clear out, you may have more luck connecting the drive to your computer to clear out that cached data.

I hope that helps, and if you have any other questions, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran
