Chromecast with Google TV speaker group with Nest Audio not working

srikotu

Hi,

I have been trying to use my nest audio speakers with my "Chromecast with Google TV". I created a group with my nest speakers and "Chromecast with Google TV" as recommended here.

I am still not able to hear the audio output from the Chromecast to nest audio speakers

Hi Srikotu,

It sounds like you have the same issue as me which I created a post for about a month ago: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Chromecast/Cannot-Group-Cast-Youtube-Music-when-Chromecast-Wi...

My workaround for this was to use a 2 channel bluetooth transmitter for each pair of my nest audio speakers and connect them with my aux output from the projector.

But doing all of that threw my plan of 'minimizing wires in the room' into the trash.

Hey there srikotu,

I'm sorry to hear that the speaker groups are giving you some trouble! This is an issue we've noticed a bit a couple of months ago, but there haven't been many cases on it recently. There was a recent update to the Chromecast with Google TV fixing some bugs, I would update the Chromecast to the latest version, as well as the Google Home app, and try it again. After the update, you may need to delete the speaker group, then re-create it.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hi Jeran,

I updated my CCWGTV to the latest update and the issue was not solved.

As you can see from my post on this, the issue is still being experienced by several people: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Chromecast/Cannot-Group-Cast-Youtube-Music-when-Chromecast-Wi...

Thank you for your help

Hey there Shogungts,

I see, I'll look into this issue more, as this was a known bug a little while ago. I'll keep this thread posted as I learn more.

Best regards,
Jeran

Any updates Jeran? It doesn't seem like a niche bug, it affects every single Google TV I've come across

I currently have my best speakers connected for audio from my Google Chromecast with TV. Here are the steps I took.

First connect one nest speakee, via Bluetooth, to the Chromecast dongle. Use your Google remote to access settings. You can ask your speaker to connect to Chromecast. This will put it in pairing mode and make it visible in settings on your TV. Complete connection via your remote.

Pair your two nest speakers. Volume will be controlled via your Google remote.

Hope this helps.
