I’m struggling. We are in an rv, Chromecast  won’t connect, says wifi is an issue and make sure location services are on, which they are. Help!

Ive been having the same issue with all our homes, minis and chromecasts after resetting the wifi password. I have tried lots of fixes - connecting direct to the chromecast, restarting both router and phone, reseting the chromecast, airplane mode on and off, unPnP on and off.

Hey there Maguiremel,

I'm real sorry about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that connection issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • Are you using a compatible network type?
  • What version of Google Home are you using?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

The issue has been going on for a couple months, but we were only using the chrome cast in our camper and thought maybe it was an issue with the campgrounds wifi and router. I brought it home and am having the same issues.  Yes I have a compatible network as I have a thermostat nest with no issues. As far as the version I am not sure, not sure where to get that info - however I am almost certain I updated it. I have tried resetting the google home and reinstalling it.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Melissa Maguire

No problem! We can dig a little deeper, let me ask you a few more questions:

  • Do you have a dual-band router? (2.4GHz and 5GHz)
  • Are you able to set up and cast to the Chromecast from another device, such as a tablet or computer?
  • On your iOS device, do you have Local Network Access enabled?

I would also encourage you to check out the troubleshooting steps in this article, as they help with a lot of casting and connection issues. I look forward to your response!

Best regards,

Jeran
