Frozen image when casting

Vegetables

  • Lately when I try to cast from Chrome to my TV using the Chrome cast, the image will cast but remains static. If I'm playing a video, only the audio continues on the TV but the initial image just freezes. I tried resetting g a few times. I also reset Google Home and the wifi as well as the browser. Would anyone be able to provide suggestions?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out about your Chromecast.  I understand it's frustrating when your device isn't working properly. Let's troubleshoot to get it back on track! In this case after you try to reboot your device the next step will be to do a factory reset. Here you can find How to factory reset your Chromecast

Please let me know if this works or if you have more questions.

I did a factory reset, and I added the chromecast to Google home. I tried casting my phone. It worked, video from YT works too. I then tried casting my browser page, but same thing. Image is cast, but freezes. It the problem with the chrome browser?

Hi Vegetables,

Thanks for the update! I'm glad the troubleshooting steps helped you resolve the issue. Regarding the Chrome browser issue, try clearing your cache and cookies. This can often fix problems with casting web pages. Once you've cleared your cache and cookies, try casting your browser page again.

Here's how to clear your cache and cookies in Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner and select "Settings."
  3. Scroll down and click on "Privacy and security."
  4. Click on "Clear browsing data."
  5. Select a time range and make sure "Cookies and site data" and "Cached images and files" are checked
  6. Click "Clear data."

If the issue persists, feel free to contact us and connect with one of our specialists for further assistance.

Best regards,

Jenny
