Google Home says it's showing YouTube options on the Chromecast but nothing shows. No options show on the TV.

Example: I say "play an interesting video from YouTube on the TV"
Google Home device says something like "Here are some options... Which one would you like?" but nothing happens on The TV, YouTube doesn't even open.

If I then respond with something like: "The first one" even though I don't see any options on the TV, the Google Home device says something like "Okay, playing on The TV" Then within 1 second says "Sorry something went wrong...". BUT a video then does play on the TV.

Hey there Justin,

I could see why that would be an issue, It's pretty hard to choose a video from a list of options that doesn't show up! I'd be happy to dig a little deeper and find out what's happening, let me just ask you some questions:

When did this issue start happening?
What type of Chromecast do you have?
What phone are you using?
What version of Google Home are you running?

For now, what I would recommend is that you're running the most recently non-beta version of Google Home, make sure your Chromecast's firmware is up-to-date, and if it's still an issue, go ahead and unlink the Chromecast from Google Home and re-add it and try it again.

I hope that helps! I look forward to your response.

Thank you for your patience,

Hey there,

I apologize about the late response, our conversation got interrupted in the transition to the new forum!  I'd be happy to continue to help out, let me just ask you a couple more questions about what's happening:

  • Is your Google Home mobile app up-to-date?
  • Is your YouTube app up-to-date as well?

This is an issue I haven't really seen before, would you be willing to re-create the issue, then submit feedback via the Google Home app with logs enabled? That way our engineering team can look at the issue on your devices.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Awesome, would you be willing to re-create the issue, then submit feedback via the Google Home app with logs enabled? It would be tremendously helpful for our engineering team to look into the issue further.

Thank you,

Jeran

Awesome, thank you for your help on that! Now the engineering team will be able to look and see where the issue is regarding your devices. To be transparent, it may take some time for them to hunt down and fix that issue. However, if you had any other questions or concerns, I'd be happy to address them!

Thank you,

Jeran
