GoogleTV goes off after 10 minutes of radio casting

Hello,

I use my Google TV to cast the BBC sounds app in order to listen to the radio via the soundbar.

Fact is that -probably due to lack of video activity - the TV goes off after exactly 10 minutes.

All timers are off.

It doesn't happen when I use the blu ray to play CDs (as there's some video activity for the timer) nor in any other way i use the TV .

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Arnaild,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. I’m assuming that you’re using a Chromecast with Google TV. Since you mentioned cast, did you mean you cast the content (from the BBC app) from a casting source (smartphone, tablet, etc.) to the TV (with the Chromecast device)? Or are you playing the installed app on Google TV? Is the Chromecast device connected directly to the TV’s HDMI? Technically, something should still be displayed on the TV even if you’re just casting an audio or music app (Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora, etc.). Kindly give us more details so we can identify this more.

We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hello,

I am actually directly casting on the Google TV as I don't need the Chromecast dongle on my Sony XR 55 94k.

I open the BBC player on my phone then cast it on my TV.

There's an image, but it's fixed and it Greys out.

And after exactly 10 minutes the TV goes off.

Timeout and Everything else has been checked and deactivated,

And there's no setting for a 10 minutes switch off.

Hello Arnaild,

Thanks for the reply. I checked the model Sony XR 55 94k that you shared, and I found this 55 Inch | X94K | BRAVIA XR | Full Array LED | 4K Ultra HD | High Dynamic Range (HDR) | Smart TV (Go... online. Based on that page, it’s a smart TV with Google TV features and Chromecast built-in for cast features.

Since this is about casting, try and compare if the same behavior happens with similar apps. Test with another smartphone or tablet using the same app to isolate if this is device-specific. And lastly, try to troubleshoot the affected app by clearing cache and data and/or reinstalling the app if needed. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Kimy
