On Chromecast with GoogleTV 4K, when I changed Dolby Vision mode to Standard from Low Latency, because it's supposed to be better, I discovered that I can no longer play HDR content, it just plays in SDR, while Dolby Vision and SDR content plays fine. I tried in every app which supported HDR content, everywhere it was playing it in SDR. When I switched back to Low Latency I was able to play Dolby Vision, HDR & SDR content normally. So you can't play HDR in DV Standard mode, you have to switch to either DV Low Latency or HDR picture mode itself and when switching to HDR picture mode you miss the Dolby Vision. This bug I noticed recently after update to Android 12. Kindly fix the issue and report it to your developer team.

Same issue here. I'm not really sure what effect using Low Latency mode has but certainly the picture is light years better when watching HDR content in that mode right now. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

No support from great Google. It seems they are hearing the name HDR first time

UHD içerikleri oynatmıyor HD olarak gösteriyor..

The switching to low latency is the workaround that was found for many of us that our HDR stop working with the Android 12 update, but as you said, this should not be how it works.
Additionally, people whose TV's do not support Dolby Vision do not have this issue as it will not display the Dolby Vision settings if it doesn't detect that it is connected to a TV with Dolby Vision.

Same issue here

I am having the same issue...

Hey there everyone,
I'm sorry about the late response on this thread, thank you for being patient on this. This is currently an issue that Chromecast Engineering is looking into. In the meantime, would you all make sure your Chromecast's firmware is up-to-date, then submit feedback via Google TV mentioned HDR issues and describing your current set-up? This would help them immensely in tracking down what is occurring.
Best regards,
Jeran

Hi. I am using a LG OLED B1 with Google Chromecast with Google TV 4K with the newest firmware and i am also having this issue. When DOLBY VISION is set to Standard some apps, like HBOMax will not display HDR. When set to Low Latency is will display HDR but not Dolby Vision.

Ty and hope this can be resolved soon. I just moved my devices (x3) from F1reTV and had to face this issue almost immediately 😞

Hi Jeran - has any progress been made on this? It has been close to 4 months since this was broken and it is still not working. I have submitted feedback through the chromecast and logged tickets with google.

Hi. Any news regarding the bug? It has been quite a few months without any solution and reply?
05-14-2023 04:29 AM
yes, no response from support team. Or sleeping 😴

same issue with India. HDR not working on youtube and other apps

What makes this so much more annoying is that GCCWGTV keeps resetting the Dolby Vision to 'standard' instead of 'low latency' and often setting the max resolution to 1080p on its own. So even if I am watching the 4K channel that I pay $20 extra month for access to on YoutubeTV, it will still display in 1080p unless I go and update it.
02-20-2023 08:06 AM
Same! This is so frustrating
03-04-2023 06:26 AM
I have the exact same issue randomly changing to 1080p and the Dolby vision setting keeps getting reset to standard, especially on reboots.

I have a TCL TV and if Dolby vision is set to standard I get no HDR. I have to set this to low latency to get HDR.

Why is this still an issue after so many months? I don’t want to be forced to use low latency DV because it disables Precision Detail etc.
please fix this bug

I have the exact same issue randomly changing to 1080p and the Dolby vision setting keeps getting reset to standard after turning off/ on 😞

Yeah, it’s a bad experience for months now with no indication that they’ll ever fix it.

True

Having exactly the same issue: Standard will work with SDR and Vision content, but not HDR. Only switching to "Low Latency" will make HDR content to work, but the colors actually look blowed out. It looks better with the TV app instead.
LG OLED G2.

Same issue here since Android 12. I'm also on an LG OLED C2. If I'm on Standard mode for Dolby Vision and watch content through an app that supports it, like Netflix, I get properly-colored content. If I keep my TV on Standard Mode and play content through apps (YouTube and Prime Video, for example) that supports HDR, it won't switch the TV's color profile to HDR. It's like the apps for YouTube or Prime Video are trying to display the HDR content, but without the TV switching over I get drab colors and milky black levels.
If I switch to Low Latency Mode, then the TV renders the content correctly. If I use LG's built-in apps, the content plays properly. Prior to Android 12, it would display Dolby Vision and HDR on Standard Mode.

Can't believe this isn't fixed after half a year. Get your act together Google.
05-12-2023 11:42 PM
Yeah, I guess Google does not care solving the bug. I started using the build in apps on my LG OLED instead - it just works:-)

Google don't have support teams. This product is under designed and no solution for HDR support.
06-02-2023 10:39 PM
I have the same problem what to do?
06-14-2023 06:53 PM
no fix yet?

I contacted @madebygoogle on Twitter and the person who conversed with me was very nice and checked with the development team who confirmed that they were aware of the issue, but that there was no timeline for a fix. Perhaps if enough people contacted them with the same issue it would put some more pressure on them to address it (probably not, but it's a pretty low effort attempt for something that shouldn't required a coordinated request for them to repair something they broke).
06-20-2023 10:08 AM
Great! Where to contact them?

@madebygoogle on Twitter - I direct messaged them.

Sigh... Another firmware update (with the only listed change being "Bug fixes and performance improvements") and this still wasn't fixed.

Just jumping in to say I have the same issues. I have set to Match Content Dynamic Range with preference set to Dolby Vision, but DV doesn't work on any of my Google Play movies this way, and the only way HDR works is if DV is set to Low Latency mode. What's odd is some of my movies can play HDR (like LOTR trilogy) but some movies will always default to SDR like Mad Max Fury Road or Blade Runner 2049.
