I have a chomecast,  but where I live I don't have wifi. I use my phone's mobile hotspot for internet acces. How can I connect my chomecast to my mobile hotspot?

As I read earlier there was a way with using a second phone, but I don't have that. There should be a better way.

That's not a supported configuration.

But, some people have reported that it works fine.

There is a trick... most phones can't BE the WiFi network and act like they are ON the network at the same time.

So, you will probably need another device

Turn on the WiFi hotspot on your phone to make a new network (note: this HAS to have full internet access)
Connect your other device to your phone hotspot
Use the other device to setup your Chromecast to use the phone hotspot
Use the other device to cast to your Chromecast

A couple more warnings... as I said, your hotspot has to have internet access. Chromecasts require this even when you are casting local content. Be warned that Chromecasts can use a LOT of data quickly. Because of this, speed of connection is important. Even if you have "unlimited data", some providers throttle phone data speeds when you do a lot of data. This will impact the quality of your casting or cause a lot of stutters.

If you don't have a second device and your phone isn't letting you do this, there is no other way.

Chromecast devices were designed for a home-setting with a wi-fi network that is available.  It says that on the box.

You may be able to use a Mirecast device instead.  Some (but not all) of them work without networks.  But, the apps supported may be limited and your experience may not be as smooth.  We do not support Miracast devices here.

Hi folks,

Hi there, the option described above only works with a secondary phone, which I don’t have so that was not possible.
I went to the local Media Markt and asked for help there; upon which I bought a 3th gen chromecast with a remote control. This actually helped since I can use that to login to my hotspot and stream from there. When I want to cast a tab I can use my macbook, which is also connected to the hotspot.
As for my mobile data, my provider does not have any restrictions to unlimited, apart from a 10 gig day limit after which I have to enable 2 gigs every time i go over it.

so thanks for the help, it did help me in some ways,
