I have taken the following troubleshooting steps:
Preconditions
- Factory reset the device
- Set up Home app
- Add chromecast device to Home
Steps to Reproduce
1. Cast to chromecast device using thirdparty app successfully (I used the Youtube app and it worked fine)
2. End the cast
3. Cast in chrome or other 3rd party app (I used the video player in MLSSoccer.com, AMC app, DirectV app, etc.) by selecting cast icon in video player midstream
4. Observe, Chromecast displays error message
Additional Information:
I've attempted to cast using three different devices and I get the same error message
Devices used
- Samsung S10 (Android 12)
- Mac Studio (Mac OS X Venture 13.4)
- Macbook Pro (Mac OS X High Sierra 10.15)
Is anyone else getting this or know what might be happening?

Hi ccasta24,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. It seems that these are different issues with similar (default) messages.
For casting using the Chrome browser from a computer, there are websites that have their own cast icon but may or may not be fully optimized for Chromecast devices. Since you’re already using the Chrome browser, follow the proper way of casting.
As for the Direct TV app and AMC app, try to cast these apps from a different device (smartphone or tablet). A newer device with the latest software would be better. The objective is to know if this is isolated to the apps themselves or to your Samsung Galaxy S10 (Android 12). If it works on a newer device, then you may troubleshoot the app by clearing the cache and data. You can also reinstall the app. If it still fails, try to update your Android version. As of now, the latest is Android 14.
You’re using a Chromecast 2nd Gen. The fact that you can cast an app means it’s working as intended, or else it won’t cast any app at all.
I hope this helps. Let us know if you have other questions.
Thanks,
Kimy
