When I try to add a device under "Set up remote buttons" it goes back to the main screen

I'm trying to set up power, input, and volume controls with my Chromecast with Google TV 4K. I've gone to Setting -> Remotes & Accessories -> Set up remote buttons -> Add device and then I select TV or Soundbar and in both cases it just takes me back to Add device root menu without giving me the option to choose a device.

How do I get this fixed?

Hi @altdryden

There can be a couple of reasons why you're not seeing device options after selecting "TV" or "Soundbar" in the Chromecast remote setup. Here's how to troubleshoot:

1. Check for Updates:

  • Make sure your Chromecast has the latest software update. Outdated software can sometimes cause glitches in the setup process. You can usually find the update option under Settings > System > About.

2. Restart Chromecast:

  • A simple restart can often fix temporary glitches. Unplug your Chromecast from the power source for a minute, then plug it back in and try the remote setup again.

3. Verify CEC Support:

  • CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) allows your Chromecast remote to control other devices like your TV. If your TV doesn't support CEC, you might not be able to set up power and input control. Check your TV's manual for CEC settings. It might be labeled as HDMI-CEC, Anynet+, or something similar. Make sure it's enabled.
