WiFi stops working on Chromecast

I bought a Chromecast with Google TV last month. Setup was smooth and I was up and running quickly. Since 2 weeks now, when I turn the Chromecast on (with the provided remote) I find it disconnected from the WiFi network and even though WiFi appears to be turned on, it does not discover any network. Toggling WiFi on/off doesn't help, the Chromecast is unavailable to discover any WiFi network. The only solution is to reboot the Chromecast device (unplug it and plug it back in). It will then boot up and connect to the last remembered WiFi network automatically.

So basically now I have to unplug the Chromecast and plug it back every time I want to watch something.

Note that there are no issues with my WiFi network at home. Other devices do no lose connection and are able to discover networks during the time the Chromecast can't.

Any solution? Is it a known issue?

Hi Nadimz,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. I suggest you do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset and setting it up from scratch to remove any corrupted files or data. If it persists, disconnect it from your home Wi-Fi and connect it to your smartphone’s mobile hotspot using the remote. You can test it by turning your Chromecast device off like you usually do, but make sure that you keep the mobile hotspot on as you turn on the TV/Chromecast. Observe and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
