Cannot add google router or Wi-Fi point to mesh system

I’m trying to set up the 3 point Wi-Fi mesh system at my dads house. It’s the same one I just purchased. I  not getting the option to select what kind of device it is…Wi-Fi as the option. 
It locates the device and I can scan the QR code but it will not connect. 

any suggestions?
