Nest wireless video doorbell - unexpected notifications

PeterJungbeker
Community Member

Hi all, I installed a Nest doorbell, linked it to a Nest mini.

The only function I need (for now) is simply when someone presses the doorbell button, to hear a chime.

I disabled all notifications, didn't create zones, etc.

But, for some reason, the system on a regular basis says "There's someone at the front door"

When I check the video feed history, there's no one to be seen.  But even then: because I turned detection off, this message should never ever be heard

Why is this ?

How can I turn it off ?

Regards, Peter

the "Theres someone at the front door" message should only activate when the doorbell is pushed, so you may have a case of phantom ringing, which could be a voltage issue.  Try turning off night vision to see if that helps.. But its possible you need a new transformer for your doorbell to properly power the device.  see linked article:

Also, just to be clear, when "Visitor announcements" is turned on, Google Nest does not provide a way for us to get just a chime when the doorbell button is pressed; we also get the "There's someone at the front door" verbal announcement. (Customers in this forum sometimes ask for a chime only, but that capability does not exist.)
