Not able to view nest camera on TV

KatherineRhude
Community Member

I have a Sony Google TV with a built in chromecast.

When I try to stream my nest camera on the TV it opens a new screen that says "camera feed not available"

I have no issues viewing the camera from my phone.

Any ideas?

I have a Chromecast-equipped Sony Google TV.
I have no trouble watching the camera on my phone, but when I try to stream my Nest camera to the TV, a new screen appears that reads, "Camera feed not available."
Any thoughts?

known issue.  google even advertises that you can stream cameras to chromecast but when you ask them they say it is not possible even though the darned box says you can!  rediculous

Hey there everyone,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! There was another thread with this same issue, which got resolved. Was anyone here still experiencing any problems when casting their cameras to their Chromecast?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

My issue has not been resolved. I have two nest cameras and neither connect to my TV through chromecast. Another thread said to wait and try again another day but I haven't seen any actual solutions

Hi KatherineRhude,

Understood. A few more questions: what type of Nest Camera devices do you have? Are you casting your camera to your Sony TV using your Google Home app or streaming it using voice commands?

Best,

Alex

Very expensive product that has never worked as advertised. No useful support from Google

I have an outdoor wired with floodlight and an indoor wired. I have tried both options for connecting and neither work

I recently bought nest cameras and doorbell and have this same issue with my Philips Google tv. Have not been able to find a solution to the problem!

I'm still having the same exact problems. I've tried calling Google several times for help, but when they call me back, they either hang up on me, or say they can't hear me. I really hate Google.

Not able to view either of my 3 google cams on new Google tv

Any update to all these community members with cameras that don't work as advertised?

Still no help or response 1 year later

I have both inside and outdoor wiring for floodlights. Both of my connection options have been tried, however neither one works.

Google shouldn't commit to false advertising.....  they could be in for a huge lawsuit.

Still no activity in Google correcting TV streaming issue.....  maybe they fired to many of their engineers.

Hey there everyone,

It looks like we've been getting reports that this issue has been resolved for some folks. Would anyone be able to confirm or deny that the cameras are working on the Chromecast?

Best regards,
Jeran

No change for me. Still doesn't work.

Any compensation being offered since these don't work as advertised? Broadcasting to my TV was a main reason for purchasing these cameras.

My TV Chromecast shows doorbell is feed is unavailable

Hello everyone,

I'm just checking up on this thread again. We haven't received any reports of this issue in some time; is anyone still experiencing this issue? If so, please let me know, and we can get you into contact with Chromecast Support to continue with troubleshooting.

Best regards,

Jeran

Nothing was ever fixed

Many people still having this issue. No reply or fix?

Multiple people have replied with issues and no response. Definitely won't be buying additional cameras

I am installing blink cameras. They have way more functions, a superior UI and WAY better customer service. Hoping I can fit all this google junk in my trash can.

Just bought a Google cam floodlight combo, video will only stream on my phone, I get "Sorry, it looks like camera doesn't support streaming to remote screens." On hubs and Chromecasts, but my nest doorbell streams fine to all of them.

Hi Jeran,

Do you have any response for all these concerns in this thread? Or will we continue to be ignored?

I have the same issue, will not show any of my google nest cams on my google TV (doorbell, indoor camera and outdoor camera.

So is there nothing google can do to fix this problem?? Just cross your fingers and hope your feed pops up like others? Nothing has been done to fix the issue yet!!

I just bought a doorbell and camera having the same issue can get the door bell to display a grey screen on sony tv was this never fixed?

I would return both items immediately. There are various problems with all of the devices. My nest hub max screen went out and google just told me to buy a new one.  It barely lasted a year. Cams and doorbells from other ecosystems have way way more functionality and superior customer service.

I have 2 tvs with Chromecast with Google tv.  One is hard wired by Ethernet. The other is on WIFI. The WIFI tv can stream my Google Nest cameras. The Ethernet tv cannot. So.....your tv must be on wifi to work, Google-Sony-get this limitation fixed please.

I have the same issue with nest gen 2 wired doorbell.
When will this be fixed?

I have 3 installed Google Nest cameras and a Generation 2 Nest Doorbell. All are wired to get constant electricity and do not run off of their batteries. I have two additional unopened Google Nest cameras I am waiting to install in my shop (or I will return for a refund). The cameras stream to my Google Pixel 8 Pro, to my Google Nest Hub Display, to an Amazon Echo Show, to my Chromebooks, but will not stream to the television that has Google TV or to an ONN Streaming Box with Google TV. The cameras start to load when given assistant commands, but shows a screen with a camera under the "not" symbol. This is one of the reasons I bought everything from the Google ecosystem is because it is supposed to just work with everything else with minimal difficulty. It appears I should have went with everything Amazon because I am reading this has been a known issue for well over a year and nothing has been done.

I have a google floodlight with camera, a gen 2 indoor camera, 2 google home minis, and a gen 3 chromecast plugged I to my Panasonic tv.  When I ask google to show either of my cameras on my chromcast, it tells me they are not capable of streaming on a remote device.

Mase45

It just says "Sorry, it looks like *camera* doesn't support streaming to remote screens" for both of them.
