Share routines with family members

Hi,

I’ve shared a number of routines that my other family members should also be able to activate, but it seems like they are only working when I activate them through the assistant.

How do I share these routines? I refuse to believe it isn’t possible to do something as simple as sharing a routine so you don’t have to do the same routine multiple times… right?

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that these issues can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

I am having the same issue of not being able to share routines with family members.  Is there a way to do this?

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out.

All Google Home or Google Nest customers can use routines that were set up by the head of household or by other members. Google Home and Google Nest devices does all the actions on the routine whenever the customer says the trigger word. However, if there's a calendar event included, the speaker or display skips the events if a different member is not the one who created the routine. The person only receives the message that says "You have an upcoming events," then it proceeds to the next action. Hope this clarify your questions.

Thanks,

Alex

I'm still having the issue, is there a secret way that the routine needs to be set up?

My particular issue is that I have a routine set up the then I ask Google what the temperature is outside, it opens ambient Weather and tells me what that app is reading.  When anyone else in my household asks what the temperature outside is it tells them they don't recognize their voice and can't connect them to the ambient Weather app.

Hey Schmiti,

Thanks for letting us know.

If you would like to receive weather forecasts for places of interest outside of their device address, set up Voice Match and personal results. Customers can get updates for meaningful changes in the weather, such as forecast swings for high winds, rain or snow at places they may be interested in visiting in the next few hours.

You can use this commands:

  • “What’s the weather?”- This command provides the weather information based on the device address.
  • "What’s the weather tomorrow, specific day, weekend, for the next 4 days?" and "What will the weather be like between <day> and <day>?"-This command provides the weather information based on the device address.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Alex

No your response has nothing to do with the issue I am experiencing.  I am trying to share a routine with my household members, it isn't allowing them access to the app I have linked to the account, so it tells them they can't access the account or it doesn't recognize their voice.

Hey Schmiti,

To clear the confusion, every member of your household can trigger the routines that you've created as long as they are a home member and using the trigger word that you've set however, all personal information that needs voice match will not be announced. Also, we don't have a way to share the routines that you've created on your Google Home app.

Thanks,

Alex

Would be a great feature to add, it works flawlessly on Alexa.

Hi Schmiti,

We hear you — we're always looking for ways to improve and to add more features on the Google Home or Google Nest speakers. You can also send feedback on the Google Home app. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours.

Best,

Alex
