"Ok Google, sync devices" ends with "one or more devices are not available" always

Hello everyone

I have a Google Home with multiple speakers, one Roborock and a Philips Hue light network set up.

Whenever I ask Google to sync my devices, I always get the answer "...one or more devices are not available". I tried to remove and re-initiate the connections to Roborock and Hue services already. I checked my routines for unknown things. I also plugged off and on all the devices and restarted my router already. Without success so far.

Actually, all other commands work fine and I can start/stop and turn on/off everything without problem. As long as I do not change anything. But when e.g. I rename a lamp in Hue, the trouble starts until I dis- and reconnect the whole Hue service again.

So how can I finally check, which devices Google is missing? In the past I had also connected other things (like Dyson fan, baking oven, etc.) but removed already.

Regards
  Marco

Hello sorich_m,

Thanks for reaching out — let's get this sorted.

Please check if you are getting the same response from all your Google Home and Nest devices. If you are, try doing a sequential reboot of your entire network by unplugging and replugging it for five minutes. Try to sync your smart devices again once your network is up and running.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Lovely

Hi

Tried to ask each one of my 3 speakers and each one responded with the same error.

After that, I unplugged all speakers, the Philips Hue bridge, the Roborock base station and finally the router - waited 5 min - and replugged them again and waited all the devices to finish the reboot.

Again I asked each speaker and got the response with the same error.

What can I do next to catch the problem?

Hey sorich_m,

Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. To confirm, are there devices that are turned off from the main switch? If so, that's the reason why you are getting the message. Do you have phones/tablets that are connected to your account?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey Muddy

All the devices are turned on by „main switch“. However, in the past I had devices (1 additional Hue light bulb and 1 LifX bulb) which were connected in the past but are removed from the system already. Could they be still a problem?
Connected phones/tablets: No tablet, but phones yes. Old and new iPhones had/have Google Home app.

Hey sorich_m,

Thanks for the information. It is possible that your speaker is still detecting those old devices. Let's check if you can still find them from the Assistant Settings. Are you using the public preview version of the Google Home app? If so, follow these steps below:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings on the lower right corner.
  3. Tap Google Assistant, then "Manage all Assistant settings" to see all the options.
  4. Tap "Device" then check if you have unused devices.

Also, check your linked devices on your account and see if you can remove it from there. Click here to see all your devices.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Muddi

I don’t use the public beta. Just the regular Google Home app from the iOS App Store. But anyway, I found the devices under the assistance setting. It shows my 3 speakers only. But no other device: no Philips Hue nor the Roborock. And also no unknown device.

From the linked devices in my account, I now have removed any link to all computers/tablets/phones (indeed there was my tablet, whose link I did not know), except the iPhone that I’m using right now and my speakers.

I still have the same error as before.

Hey sorich_m,

That's weird! Please create a new home structure on the Google Home app. Once done, move all your devices from the old one to the new one then immediately remove the old home structure. Check if you still get the same response when syncing your devices.

Create a new home structure

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top, tap Add Add.
  3. Tap "Create new home."
  4. Follow the steps.

Move devices to a different home

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. Open the home the device is in.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Setting and then Device information and then Home.
  5. Tap the home you want to move the device to and then Next and then Move device.
  6. If asked, tap the room you want to move the device to and then Next.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

Dear Muddi

I did create a new home with all the steps your described for all my devices.
Same result: The error still appears.

Hope you are not out of ideas yet…
