Nest Protect non-wired shows Power Out

I have a non wired nest protect that continues to show the power is out. I've replaced with the same Energizer Lithium batteries since I thought it could be specific on the type of battery it needs. I've reset the device and still the device shows as power is out from within the nest app. Has anyone been able to resolve this issue?

Hello camador2009,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’d be happy to help you with the Nest Protect. Let’s check it out.

A few questions: Is this a new installation? What is the color of the light ring? Have you run a Safety Checkup? Also, does the Nest Protect show as offline in the Nest app?

If you haven’t done so already, let’s manually test the Nest Protect and take note of the results.

  1. Press the Nest button on a Protect. The blue light should turn on, and it will speak to you.
  2. When it says "Press to test", press the button a second time.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Lance

I have the same problem. I followed your steps, but it is still showing an orange circle and power is out on the app.
Thanks

Hi Svjetlana,

Thanks for letting us know. Were you able to try changing your Nest Protect's batteries? If not yet, please do so and perform another safety checkup.

Also, Nest Protect (Battery) requires 6 AA and Protect (Wired) requires 3 AA as backup batteries.

  • Do not use other types of batteries than the ones recommended by Nest. They are detrimental to the smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm operation.
  • Do not mix and match batteries.
  • Do not place new batteries with old batteries.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Jenelyn
