Nest protect making super loud beeps

I was woken up at 6am today from my Nest alarm making 6 VERY loud beeps. This is the 3rd time this has happened in the past 6-9 months. The app did not say there was any issue with smoke and carbon monoxide. No audio message from the device either. Has others experienced this? Is it a faulty decice
