Hi, I got gen3 thermostat and unfortunately I'm not sure if it's compatible with my existing system. It's a regular baseboard heater either thermostat on the wall. I only have two regular wires coming out from the box and it's red and black. Can anyone help me understand if I'm able to install it and if yes where to out those two cables. Thanks in advance.

Looks like you have electric baseboard heat and the thermostat is 120 volts AC.
If I am correct and that is what you have then a Nest will not work. Nest (and any regular thermostat) is for low voltage system 24 Volts control wiring.
Electric baseboard heaters need special thermostats designed for them.

What if I use this thing. https://www.amazon.ca/Aube-RC840T-240-Switching-Electric-Transformer/dp/B0037MXM1C/ref=asc_df_B0037M...
should it work?

That device would need to be mounted near each baseboard and connected to 220v and have power all the time to it to keep the transformer on, then a regular low voltage thermostat cable run to the Nest behind the wall. It would be hard to hide the device out of view and snake a cable to the Nest.
This company makes smart thermostats designed for electric baseboard heating it might be a better solution for you. Also each baseboard would need its own smart thermostat and they have multi pack discounts.

If you want to do the wiring and use that type of relay device this one is much lower price and the same thing. But you need 220v so you have to check if your baseboard heater is 120v or 220v because that model is only for 220v system.

And there are some videos on Youtube how to install that realy.
