Heating outside of schedule

Recently the NEST has been switching on the heating around 2am most (not all) mornings at heating to a temperature that’s not on the schedule. I’ve seen a few people have had this issue but can’t see any responses with a ‘why’ and a ‘fix’.
Any ideas please?

Just to add a few more details:

Eco is ‘on’ and safety temp is at 4.5C. Learning is also switched ‘on’ and the time / date is correct. This is not every night but perhaps 5 of the last 7. There’s nothing in the units settings that would explain this issue.

Look very closely at the schedule to see if the Learning function automatically added an extra event in there.

You could also try turning off Home/Away to see if that makes a difference.  If your phone goes into deep sleep or wakes up from deep sleep it might trigger Eco on or off.

Thanks @johnCNA

Sorry I should have been more specific. The issue is not getting too cold but rather it’s heating to 21C when nothing in the schedule.

A few people seem to have had similar issues but threads have closed or seemingly not been resolved. Bit disappointing Mr Google…

Hey folks,

Thanks for your answer, johnCNA.

@99HS, sorry for the delayed response and I understand how you feel. I want to dig deeper into this.

A few questions — what type of Nest thermostat do you have? Could you check on your Energy History to check what triggered this unexpected change? It's easiest for the customer to review this information on the Nest web app, so reviewing this information is best done on a computer. Take a look at this guide for more information: https://bit.ly/3qgoN3Y

Hi Melba

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately as the history only covers the last 10 days it wasn't possible to see for the period up to when I posted. In the last 3 weeks it hasn't happened which is odd, but I did change one setting, which was the max duration of the pre-heat . I reduced this down to 1 hour, and since then it hasn't been coming on at 2am. So maybe this has fixed it, but why would it come on in the first place at 2am to pre-heat at a full 21C a good 3 hours (!!) before it was due to tick on? I don't really understand this, and for sure I haven't noticed it any colder at 6am compared to before I changed this setting. Any thoughts on this?

Many thanks for your help.
