My thermostat went into eco mode when I was gone for the weekend. I came home and it was 76. Its set to 69 or 70 but it hasn't kicked on over the last 8 hours and its still 76. How do I make the AC turn on?

First, turn off Home/Away Assist and Eco Mode.  With those smart features inactive, the Nest should follow whatever schedule you set.

If those features are definitely off, are you able to make the compressor turn on by twirling the dial to a lower temperature?

If not, I would look at the Safety Temperature setting and make sure it (the one for cooling) is off.  That's probably a red herring but the heating Safety Temperature feature can be buggy and I don't know about the cooling one.

If the Nest simply won't obey you even then, I would probably try a Reset.  I don't know what the unintended consequences might be, though.

please help, I have a 3 month old and its so warm in here! how do I make the AC work again?

I would go purchase a new thermostat. That’s what I had to do

It was totally fixable with the help on nest support over the phone.

Just curious  --  was there a simple explanation?  It might help others.
