N260 code Even With C Wire Adaptor

I have a nest that I had professionally installed.  This is an old 2 wire system with no c wire.  The HVAC company installed the thermostat along with a power connector at the unit.  Worked perfectly for months until this morning.  I noted the display did not wake up when walked by. I touched the thermostat and saw an N260 error on the display.  In the app it says “This thermostat will work with your system, but needs a Google Nest Power Connector or C wire to avoid potential power issues in the future.”.  I can see it on my app so it is connected to wifi.  I’m afraid to restart the thermostat for fear of losing everything including control of the heat when it is the 30s at night.  I have a call in to the hvac company but in the meantime I thought I’d drop a line here for feedback or suggestions.

Hi mbmccauley54,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing an N260 error on your Nest thermostat, and you're concerned about restarting it and potentially losing control of your heating system. I understand your hesitation, as maintaining heat during colder temperatures is crucial. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

  1. Ensure the Nest Power Connector is securely connected on your control board, free from loose or disconnected wires, and visually inspect the wiring for its integrity.
  2. Restart your thermostat. Go to Settings and then select Restart.
  3. Test the Power Connector. Go to Settings  > Equipment > Power Connector > Power Test.
  4. Update the thermostat to version 1.1 or later. To check for an update, go to Settings > Version > Update.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
