NEST takeout is now missing the [energy_latest...] file which has furnace/AC usage data 10 days

for years i have downloaded from Google Takeout the usage data for my thermostat (choosing Nest / User only from the many options).  Inside the zip file is an [energy_latest_....]  JSON file having usage info for the previous 10 days.  As of a week ago or so, the Google Takeout export zip file have a new folder structure and does not contain the expected [energy_latest_.... ] file.  Please help.  Where can i download/find this file now?

More than energy record is missing.  I have been using Google Takout/Nest to download tiime-temperature-rel. humidity data, but as of September, only monthly JSONL files are included; all CSV data is missing.

I believe somebody at Google Takeout messed up something, but I don't see a way to contact that department.

i have looked also and cannot find a way to contact anyone of relevance at google.  Stupid.  They should be providing a log of all content changes they make to this downloadable data.  It should be versioned and documented the same as any software program.  Not sure what these clowns are thinking.  I will look again but don't have much faith in finding an appropriate means to contacting a real person.

Yesterday I spent 90 minutes on the phone with 3 or 4 different CS departments, and nobody could say who is responsible for the change in the Nest Takeout format...  The last CS rep, Randy, said he'd search all over Google ecosystem, so we'll see.

The most ridiculous part of it is the fact that they format the Best output file as a JSONL File which is unreadable by Google Sheets--unless you cheat and change the JSONL extension to CVS or TXT... 😬🤔, but then you have to parse the huge line into separate columns.

Best, not Best...  Why can't I edit my own post?

Just spent over an hour chatting online with google support morons ... first level, then second level.  They keep repeating the same dumb questions (which i answered 12 times) and on and on and on.  Sent them pics of steps i take in google takeout, pic of the exact file i am looking for (and used to always be there) within the zip file they give me, etc..  Nothing but minions and morons.  Said they will email me upon further info being available.  Doubt this happens.

I totally agree with your opinion--the same unbelievably lame treatment I received from the Google CS on many previous occasions on any issue beyond the 'clean the cache's or 'reboot the phone's mantra... There were few exceptions, but only from their US-based reps. The Bangaluru CS crew are truly pathetic and spoil any remainder of the brand's technical shine.

Again, why couldn't Google Sheets import their own JSONL-formatted files?

until about 12 days ago i could download this data easily and it had the actualactual furnace or AC time of use runtimes in it and more.  Within Google Takeout, choose "Nest" and user content option "User" and it had this file with 10 days worth of data.  But about 12 days ago the content of the zip file produced changed dramatically and this key file is no where to be found.  I want it back!!!  Or if it has been moved to another Google Takeout option, please tell me where it is!!  Not happy.

I found a solution; it requires a bit of prep work, but I can get more data now than before from the CVS files.  Here's what I do:

1. Download the Nest Google Takeout file with 3 or 4 years of my thermostat's data.

2. I unzip the monthly JSONL files and rename them to X.csv, where X is the number of the month.

3. I import the CVS files into Excel and run a macro that converts all the colons and commas into separate columns. I get 5 columns: the first is the date and time, the second the inside temperature, the third is the inside humidity, the fort the outside temperature (by the ZIP code), and the fifth is the outside humidity.

Then I chart the 4 date-variable data pairs on a DD-MMM axis, with the temp on the left vertical axis and RH on the right.

It works.

4.

Could you please try the export with thermostat option in takeout under nest . That should provide you the required thermostats data.

I forgot to add that the macro also deleted dozens of useless for me columns, leaving only those 5 mentioned above.

In the end, I copy and paste the content of these 5 columns into a spreadsheet with a ready chart template, so I don't have to touch the data to get the full-color chart.  🙂
