I am astounded that such an advanced piece of tech cannot simply run the system fan without enabling a cooling or heating mode. At the very least make it possible to suspend the auto-scheduling feature so my window unit and heater don’t fight each other when it’s 100 degrees outside without deleting the hard work it did “Learning” my schedule? Why didn’t it “learn” that it’s freaking summer and there’s no need to turn the damned heat on?
Please add a feature to enable running the system fan by itself. In the PNW the system filter is able to keep smoke particluate out of the indoor air. This is a needed function and should have been included from the start.

I have the same problem. Fan (including the fan schedule) should operate independently from the status of the system (heat, cool, both or off). I have an energy efficient house that is sealed extremely well. Our fan system was operated by the furnace/AC (in conjunction with the old thermostat) and an air recycling controller. If no heat or AC operated the fan for more than a set time (an hour or two), the fan turns on to draw air from outside for 10-15 minutes. We have an outside intake for fresh air that provides about 10-15% outside air into the cold air return to the house to prevent sick building syndrome. I have eliminated the separate air recycling device by using the nest "fan schedule." Alas I think the fan schedule is also deactivated by system "off". My house requires a fan schedule at all times in any system mode setting.

Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out. I understand that having an option to run the fan without having to set the Nest Thermostat to heat or cool mode would be easier. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — we'll take this as feedback. Keep your eye on the Google Nest Community page https://goo.gle/2JvnMRy for any updates. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I won't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.
Check out this link on how to file feedback.

I saw the post. I hope this is taken seriously. If I have to go another fire season without this functionality I will find one that has it.

What I don't understand is why are threads locked and no one is allowed to add their comments? I also hope to see this change in a later update.
