We just discovered that 5 years ago when we had our thermostat installed, they never connected the C wire. So it's been running off of the battery for 5 years. Battery is completely dead and will not charge. Have tried buying compatible batteries from Amazon and none work. How do I get the correct battery to replace the old one? We have now connected the C wire. Thank you.

Hello Patsygb,
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your Nest Thermostat that won't hold a charge. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
Changing its built-in battery is not suggested, as it might damage its hardware and cause it to lose its function. But installing a common wire would help to provide constant power to your thermostat. To make sure, could you please check the power readouts in its Technical Info settings? Also, what wires do you have?
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark

No, it still doesn't work even after having the C wire properly installed. We finally just threw it out and bought a new thermostat from a different brand. Thanks for your help anyway. I appreciate it.
