Hi Everyone,

Having issues with my Nest 3rd Generation, I installed it a few years ago now and all of a sudden it's starting losing WiFi connection and wondered whether it's a hardware issues with the thermostat.

Background: one of two hardwired to the heat link and connected wireless to home WiFi, use nest app and Google home.

Hello folks,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your thermostat that keeps disconnecting from your WiFi. I'd love to know more about this.

Could you please check its battery level in the Technical Info settings? Are you experiencing an intermittent Wi-Fi connection issue? Also, please check any message codes in the Network settings.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark

Hello,

Thanks for getting back, the battery level is 3.920 Volts.

I'm not seeing any network messages in the network settings other than the 'cant get weather at the moment' message on wake up refering to nest.com/M2.

As for the WiFi I haven't noticed drop outs and I work from home a couple of times a week its ordinarily fine.

Thanks in advance.

Hey there,

Gotcha. Your Nest Thermostat uses The Weather Channel to get local weather information. If your location is incorrect, your thermostat might have trouble giving you the correct weather information. Let's sort this out.

Please give these steps a whirl:

  1. Check your home location both in the Nest app and on your thermostat to make sure they both have the correct information.
  2. Check that The Weather Channel has information for your location.
    1. Visit https://goo.gle/3aOeso7
    2. In the search bar, enter the zip code for your area.
  3. Check your home network settings.
    1. Reboot your modem or router by unplugging it for at least 3 minutes to refresh it before plugging it back in.
  4. Restart your thermostat.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
