I have recently received a broken replacement nest thermostat to fix an already malfunctioning nest learning thermostat. I asked for a new thermostat (not refurbished) and was told I would be provided with one. When I was sent the link to complete my advance replacement, it indicated a refurbished unit. How can I ensure that what I receive is new. I have not had luck with refurbished units. (This is my 3rd nest learning thermostat in 1 year). If they keep breaking I will likely give up and go with a competitor thermostat
