Nest thermostat showing Aux Heat all the time even if on cooling

so for the last few months my nest and google home apps both always show Aux Heat as on when it is not even on.  It is showing the orange color which means its heating.  When I switch to cool it still shows Aux Heat running.

It is heating and cooling correctly but the app keeps showing that aux heat is on whether heat or cool is selected.  When the system is off it should show as idle but it does not.

I understand this can be confusing since everything seems to work this way, but it's not displaying that way on the thermostat. Don't worry, let's figure it out.

Here are a couple of things you can try to fix this.

• Ensure the wires on your Nest thermostat are connected correctly, especially those for Aux heat (W2/AUX).
• Try restarting the Nest thermostat and your phone to see if it resolves the issue.

As a last step, you can try to uninstall the Nest app and follow this article on how to factory reset your thermostat to see if a fresh start might get things working again.
