Nest thermostat

I plugged my rh and it doesn’t keep power.  Upon investigating I found there was a c wire.  I plugged it in and now the thermostat says no power to the rh but it recognizes a wire in the c terminal.  I checked the furnace and the c wire is connected.  Please any help, I am getting frustrated with this nest and my house is hot.

Hi Jharvey82,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. Could you please confirm if the power wire (RH) is also connected to your furnace control board? Also, please try to move the wire from your RH terminal to the RC terminal in your Nest Thermostat. It will help us to isolate the issue, if the issue is coming from your thermostat terminal or thermostat wire. Make sure to turn the breaker off before touching the wires.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn

Yes, I made sure that the wires were connected to the furnace correctly.  I also tried the Rc connection, still didn’t work.

Hey Jharvey82,

Thanks for the update. Could you please check and share with us your Nest Thermostat power readout? Please go to your actual thermostat Settings then look for Technical Info and choose Power. Also, check as well for any messages or codes you'll see in the app or in the actual thermostat.

Regards,

Jenelyn

I wish I could upload pictures because it would explain better that I can.
When Rc and C are plugged in it reads,”no power to Rc wire detected, nest.com/e73

When Rh and C are plugged in it reads,”no power to Rh wire detected, nest.com/e74

When Rh is plugged in and no C it reads there is power tho Rh but it turns on for about a second then shuts off immediately.

Hi there,

Thanks for the follow up information. It seems like your C wire can't provide sufficient power to your Nest Thermostat. Could you please connect the C wire back to your thermostat then check for the power readout? Make sure to turn the breaker off before touching the wires. Once done, ensure to turn the breaker back on.

You can follow these steps to check your thermostat power readout:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Highlight the gear icon for Settings.
  3. Turn the ring until you find the word Technical Info.
  4. Choose Power.

Please keep me posted.

Best,

Jenelyn

Battery 3.674v

Voc 2.05V

Vin 2.05 V

lin 8mA

Without the C wire and just Rh

with just Rh

Voc 32.02V

Vin 5 V

lin 20mA

but doesn’t charge and shouts off immediately

I never heard back.  I figured it out.  We have duel controls so the c wire was connected in the attic so I connected it and it works.

Happy to hear that! I appreciate the gesture. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will be locking this in 24 hours if we don't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread, and we'll be happy to help.

I appreciate your help, Jenelyn.
