New to Nest Thermostat and confused!

Hi

Sorry if this is the kind of question everyone asks, but I couldnt see the answer, so hopefully it isnt!

We have just had our nest thermostat installed and we dont seem to have any instructions, nor could I see on the app anywhere to tell me what to do, so I have set it up to do what I think is logical.

Given its summer still, I just wanted the heating to come on at 8 for 2 hours every day. So I set the schedule for 20c at 20.00 and back to 10c at 22.00.

Ive just noticed (I set it up yesterday) that, at 16.45, the radiators are already hot, and I am cooking... Ive checked the schedule and it still says what I wanted it to, so I dont understand why I already have heat pumping through the house.

It mentioned something about preheating, but surely it isnt preheating 4 hours ahead of when I want it to turn on??

So - 2 questions, firstly what is going on with it and secondly, is there a manual for using it anywhere please?

Thanks

Sue

Hi there. Yes, information is pitifully scarce.  I think you can sort this though. Open the Nest app and go to the page where you see the temperature disk etc. Open settings with the gear button at top right. There's a setting called True Radiant which I think is what you're looking for. Set it to zero and see if that helps.

As to your general question, Google doesn't really do manuals.  There are lots of useful articles online, and each is pretty clear, but they're interlinked so it can be hard to read everything.  Here's the link to the basic articles for the Learning model:  https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9248184?hl=en#Learning-E.
