New setup. New batteries. Reading no power and no wifi now. I only have 4 wires so it's not a complicated install

Post pics of the wires connected to the nest.

Do you have r wire and C wire connected?

I have R, W, Y and G connected from initial thermostat. Not sure how to tell if a C wire is necessary

The Nest non learning requires a C wire.

Is there an unused color wire in the cable coming out of the wall? You might have to peel back the outer cover to see if any extra wires they snipped off. If yes then use that for a C wire and also go to the furnace and connect it to C terminal.

Or buy 8 conductor thermostat wire and run a new wire to nest.

Or if you never run just the fan by itself then you can use the green wire put it on C at the Nest and move it to C at the furnace then it will be your C.

I'll get a pic when I get home. There is a wire on c on furnace but not sure where the hell it goes. 😂

Its probably the wire that goes outside to the AC unit they usually run 2 conductor wire with a red and white,

Red will be tied to Y and white comes back to the furnace goes to C to complete the circuit. This is what makes the outside contractor click on when thermostat asks for cooling.

Okay, I'll get a pic of the furnace hookup as well. HVAC is not one of my strong suits. Lol. House wiring and computer building is

Files are to big to send, is there an email where I can send them?

You have to put the pics into the chat box. Use the camera icon above the text "insert photos".

Or you can drag and drop files. Phone pics should be within the size limits unless you have them set for super high resolution.

Is there another thermostat in this system or only this Nest?

I see 2 thick thermostat cables,  and 2 thin (2 conductor R W) entering the furnace.

Which thick cable comes from the Nest?

Looks like the black wire nut in the center of the pic is all wires tied together that go to the C common screw.

The bottom coiled up thin wire is possibly power comes from W screw, feeds power to a humidifier then, returns to C wire nut so when heat is on it runs humidifier.

Can you take better pic of the wires going to the wire nuts i'm trying to figure out what is going on.

Also at the Thermostat it looks like a snipped off yellow wire is available in that cable.

If you can strip back the brown insulation and use that yellow in place of Y that is the standard color for the AC signal. Then use Blue for C common which is the standard color, but you would have to change it at the furnace and swap at the wire nut yellow in place of blue, then connect blue to the C terminal and you will have a stable C common wire.

I'll see where I get with that yellow wire and move some things around. Thank you for the info

You have some really funky wiring going on.

Do you have a humidifier/dehumidifier installed?

There are four different cables going into your air handler. Two are 2-wire cables, and two are 4-wire cables

One of the 2-wire cables should be going to the outdoor unit. Third cable down.

One of the 4-wire cables should be going to the thermostat. The second down cable I think.

The other 4-wire cable looks to be going to a separate cooling unit. Top cable it looks like.

The other 2-wire cable looks to be going to an assceeory of some sort (humidifer/dehumidifier?). Bottom cable

Can you confirm if my thoughts are correct and I'm curous what the cooling unit wiring looks like.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. I just want to check if you manage to see the inputs above? Please keep us posted.

I appreciate your help, @Houptee and @Patrick_Caezza.

Best,

Jenelyn

Yes, I tried it. But looks like that wire that isn't used, is also not used. I'll just wait till I can get an HVAC specialist here. Whoever was hired in the initial install may have had to do something I am unaware of as it was done before we purchased this home. Thank you for all the help
