Thermostat turns itself off

All of a sudden my thermostat started turning itself off randomly. I find that some of these help forums are a total waste of time. Can someone offer a viable solution?

What do you mean by turns off?

Is it turning the heat down to a lower temp and turning off the furnace?

Or is it going blank like no power to the Nest?
