Why can we not disable (forever) the Join Nest Renew Ad's?

1.) This is Google we are talking about (ahem Ads')

2.) Why can we not have an option to (disable Nest Renew).  This would stop asking us and trying to trick us into clicking (yes).

3.) Why does the Ad try to trick us.  First asking if we want to Join Nest Renew.  And putting a small basic text "Not now >" and a big blue button [   Yes, I'm In     ] at the bottom easily reachable by your super fast click thumb.

Then if we select "Not now >" there is another blue button to sign up and a grey (sad one)  asking if we want to (disable future savings).  Enough we are not children. Stop trying mindless psychology games with us.

I just want it to end.  No more Ad's.  I have rentals that use Nests so that I can monitor and control thermostats remotely. Our guests get confused when they see it on the dial.  Some have inadvertently enabled Renew which we then get a call months later asking why the AC is not working. This in turn causes us to send out an HVAC tech and costs us more money than the RENEW can ever save us.

Hello jlucasvt,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum.

I am aware that the Nest Renew prompt can be inconvenient and constantly appearing on your screen. You most likely qualify for this program with the aid of your energy provider. I did come across some useful articles that may help you Manage your Google Home app notifications and Control the ads you see when you see them.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do to assist you.

Regards,
Mark

Unfortunately none of the suggestions control the "Nest Renew" Ad prompt.  I qualify for lots of programs that I choose not to partake in.  I do not understand why I cannot say.  No thank you, please do not ask me again.  As I said this has cost me real money (in fact more than the cost of the Nest Thermostat) as I have had 2 HVAC Tech calls at $300 each to find that the issue was Nest Renew being enabled by accident.

Unarguably the Larges Ad service company in the world (Google's) Thermostat product is shilling for Electric Companies and not allowing the users of it's products to disable these prompts.   All while trying to trick them into agreeing to the terms.

A great question is how much money does Google get from Electric Companies for "signing up a user" what do those "Terms of service" look like?

When an electric company "saves" on electricity and "energy use" will they be lowering the cost of electriciy? No.. They in fact raise rates because they are now not making enough to pay for their employees and service providers.   So we don't get to run our AC when it's hot, and they don't have to lower the cost.  So they push the burden on to the user by getting them to use less. And then get paid more.. Nice trick.. No thanks.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for the help here, Mark.

We don't have any news to share about the next firmware update. While stopping the Nest Renew prompts permanently isn't available, I'd suggest you Share feedback about Google Nest so our team would know your thoughts. Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.

Cheers,

Renz
